The world's tropics are a vast reservoir of natural wonders and resources, used for centuries for their health, nutritional and everyday benefits. From the delicious chocolate we love to the diverse bamboo used in construction, the tropics offer a wide range of resources that are deeply rooted in our daily lives.
The tropics are located between two invisible boundary lines: the Tropic of Cancer in the north and the Tropic of Capricorn in the south, and between these two imaginary lines lie some of the most beautiful areas in the world, such as Bora Bora, the Maldives, Bali, the Phi Phi Islands in Thailand, the Caribbean, and more. But these areas are much more than just places with stunning beaches and coconut trees - they are habitats with a huge variety of plants and fruits that are known for their special health properties.
Let's embark on a journey through the most magical regions on Earth and explore four of the many resources these regions offer.
chocolate:
The chocolate industry uses cocoa beans from tropical regions in Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia to produce amazing chocolate and desserts. In Latin America, cocoa trees are considered a significant crop. For example, in Mexico, chocolate is often used in traditional dishes. In Africa, cocoa production has a significant impact on the economy and provides jobs for thousands of people.
Dark chocolate has health benefits thanks to antioxidants, flavonoids, and endorphins that help improve mood and reduce inflammation – but it is important to consume it in moderation.
Bananas:
Bananas are one of the most common tropical fruits. They are rich in vitamins, potassium, and fiber, and help maintain normal blood pressure and healthy digestion. They are also a great source of energy after a workout.
At TROPICAL BLOCKS we tried to release a limited edition banana-scented soap, but we found that it didn't work as well for the body, even though it tasted good in food. We're still working on something ;)
The bamboo tree from the tropical rainforests:
Bamboo grows quickly, is strong, and lightweight—and is used as an environmentally friendly raw material for construction, furniture, and even in ceremonies in Asia.
In many cultures, bamboo symbolizes strength, resilience, and prosperity. During the Asian New Year, homes are decorated with it. Want to feel it on your body? Try our Bamboo and Aloe – one of the most masculine scents out there.
Tropical plant products:
Coconut contains electrolytes, vitamins, and healthy fats – coconut water is used as a refreshing and nutritious drink. Popular brands: Zico , Vita Coco .
Many medicines are based on plants and even the venom of tropical snakes, such as a medicine for high blood pressure. Aloe vera – which soothes the skin – also comes from the tropics.
Body soaps and creams:
This is our specialty at Tropical Blocks . We use only natural oils from tropical regions – coconut, vanilla, eucalyptus, ginger and cinnamon from Sri Lanka. Our soaps are 100% natural and exotic.
